Coaching Psychology for Psychologists
$4,500.00
Description
Many psychologists tell us they provide coaching for clients and/or are often approached to provide coaching for clients. There is an assumption held by a number of psychologists, and purchasers of coaching services, that because of their background and training psychologists are “naturally” able to coach. Unfortunately this is often not the case and can result in less than optimal coaching experiences for both the coaches and the coach.
This intensive, and focused course is designed specifically for psychologists who wish to expand and deepen their knowledge and practice of coaching psychology. Participants will typically be qualified psychologists – clinical, organisational, sporting, or educational etc. It combines the theory and research underlying coaching psychology with an experiential and hands-on approach in which participants are invited to learn by doing, reflecting, adjusting and experimenting. It explores the similarities and differences between psychology and coaching psychology and what is enabled and constrained by the assumptions underpinning each approach. In particular, the course will focus on developmental coaching in complex environments and includes a Subject Object Interview (Kegan, 2003; Lahey et al., 1988) and debrief for each participant.
This is a 12 module course conducted over 4 days. The 4 days are split into 2 x 2 day blocks separated by a 2 week break in which participants are invited to apply the reflective practitioner model in real coaching sessions. The learning from this experience is then used as a platform for the final 2 day session
